In 1845 the Hamond family owned about nine tenths of Swaffham and over 300 pieces of land or properties.
However, and in his own right, the Lord of the Manor owned only 4: This building, together with the Assembly Rooms, Artichoke Shrubbery and the Pound next to it (land on Mangate Street opposite the George Hotel) and the Town Pit near the Greyhound Inn.
In 1951 Cecil Wallace Robinson opened a tobacco shop here.
He closed his hairdressing and tobacco business in Station Street after the shutting down of Corbatch Canners in that year. When he died in 1958 his home was Marketplace.
In the 1980s the businesses were Jane Knitwool and later a gift shop, then Swaffham Taxis office for a number of years.
Between 2009 and 2015 it housed discount stores and then Bike Electric from 2018 to 2020.
Sugar Rush opened here as an ice cream parlour in 2022 and closed in 2024.
