The outlined area shows the three buildings occupied by William Parsons in 1845 for his gunshop, workshop and the Post Office. He also occupied a gunshop opposite on the north side.
The occupiers of the three buildings behind in 1845 were:
150 – Peter Walden – house. A baker
149 – James Green – house. A hostler
148 – John Watson – house and yard. A victualler

The properties were demolished as part of the regeneration scheme from the 1940s and a new Tourist Information Centre with toilet and bus shelter was built and opened in 1991.
Sue’s News replaced the Tourist Information Centre in around 2018. The TIC moved to the museum in the early 2000s.
